Ways to give

Local giving has local impact

The 2010 Backpack Campaign is underway!

Once again this year we are asking the community to help families living in shelter with back-to-school costs. Last year the community purchased 54 backpacks. This year our goal is 60!

The Backpack campaign not only provides funds for back-to-school basic supplies like markers, pencils, binders and a backpack but with other school necessities like gym or “indoor” running shoes; school pictures and trip costs.

By purchasing a backpack you will help ensure that no child goes without.

There are three different backpack packages to choose from:

Basic Backpack- backpack with school supplies $25.00

Backpack plus- backpack with school supplies plus running shoes (indoor and outdoor) $50.00

Back-to-school pack- backpack with school supplies, running shoes, school photos and school trip expenses $75.00

Backpack Boost

The Women’s Rural Resource Centre’s annual backpack drive received a boost this morning from a new school supply company. Justin Egan from “The Back to School Company” dropped off 10 complete back to school kits. The kits were donated as part of the company's “Every Child Prepared Program”.

The Back To School Company purchases school supplies in bulk and packages them into Back To School Kits™ providing a unique alternative to the traditional method of back to school shopping. They offer 12 different kits; the price of their kits is comparable to, or better than, that of major retailers. Internet ordering allows parents to purchase kits throughout the year; kits can be shipped to your home or the child’s school. For more info visit them online at www.thebacktoschoolcompany.com

For those interested in making a donation in person, please drop by our centre at 145 Beech Street in Strathroy. We would be pleased to answer any questions you may have on our programs and services, and about how your gift will impact our work to end abuse of women and children.
