Our Services/Programs

Are you...

  • afraid to express your own opinions because of your partner's reaction?

  • being ridiculed, put down, called names by your partner?

  • experiencing anger or threats of violence or abandonment from your partner?

  • restricted in where you go, who you see, how much money you spend?

  • being physically hurt?

  • coerced into unwanted sexual activity?

  • beginning to believe the terrible things your partner says about you are true?

  • worried that things are getting out of control?

If you are in need of...

  • a safe place to talk about what's going on for you

  • help determining if you're in an abusive relationship

  • safety strategies for staying in your relationship

  • support and safety strategies as you leave your abuser

  • respite from your abusive home

Counsellors are available to provide you with support, safety planning, referrals or just to listen.  Call 1-800-265-5390 anytime: this line is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

If you are a woman 16 years of age or older, with or without children, seeking refuge from an abusive relationship, you are welcome to stay in our emergency shelter for up to six weeks.  In this psychologically and physically safe place, you can get information and sort out your next steps.

In an atmosphere of support and increased safety and independence, we can provide you and your children with a place to live for up to one year after leaving your abusive relationship.  Attainment of one of two 3-bedroom units in Strathroy will be based on availability and your particular safety needs.  Rent is set on a “geared-to-income” basis.

If you are interested in Second Stage Housing, email transition@wrrcsa.org

If you need help sorting out whether you're in a bad relationship or an abusive one, or need a safe space to talk about what's going on for you, you are welcome to meet with a counsellor/advocate.  We offer short and long-term and long-term support for women experiencing the impact of woman abuse.  We provide group and individual counselling, advocacy, education, support and referrals.  Services provided in Strathroy as well as outreach sites in West Middlesex County: Ilderton, Lucan, Glencoe, Melbourne,  Mt. Brydges,  Newbury and Parkhill.  If you are interested in Counselling Services, email counselling1@wrrcsa.org

In all of our programs, in addition to listening to you to find out what you want and need, we will:

  • help you with safety strategies – whether you wish to leave your relationship or stay in it
  • help you sort out how much risk you might be at in your relationship
  • help you advocate for what you want
  • create opportunities for you to learn more about woman abuse
  • support you with information and referrals to help you meet your goals whether these are about:
  • housing

  • financial

  • health issues (for you or your children)

  • parenting

  • employment

  • basic needs

  • or anything else

In all of our programs, if there is something you need or want and we don’t know how to help you, we will work with you to find answers or resources so that you can decide what to do or how to proceed.
